JOB SUMMARY:
The Technical Lead is a hands-on working lead. This role bridges the gap between frontline execution and departmental supervision, offering strong technical expertise, day-to-day leadership, and task coordination within their assigned area. The ideal candidate will be proficient in the tools, equipment, materials, inventory procedures, and processes of their department. Capable of training others, resolving production issues, and ensuring compliance with engineering specifications, inventory control procedures, and company procedures.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Serve as the primary resource for team members; provide troubleshooting support, guidance, and mentorship.
· Coordinate and support daily departmental activities to ensure safe, efficient, and accurate workflow execution.
· Ensure team adherence to safety protocols, quality standards, inventory control practices, and productivity goals.
· Assist in training and onboarding new employees; reinforce skill development across the team.
· Communicate departmental needs to supervisors.
· Support material movement, workflow coordination, staging, receiving, kitting, inventory accuracy, and departmental organization as applicable to the assigned area.
· Communicate operational needs, material shortages, workflow concerns, equipment issues, and production priorities to supervisors and cross-functional teams.
· Maintain organization, cleanliness, and efficiency of the work area (5S practices encouraged).
· Communicate effectively with supervisors, engineers, and cross-functional teams regarding workflow, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
· Identify and escalate equipment issues, process inefficiencies, inventory discrepancies, or personnel concerns to management.
· Support continuous improvement initiatives across production process, workflow efficiency, and material flow.
· Reinforce compliance with engineering drawings, work instructions, customer requirements, inventory procedures, and company policies.
· Proven hands-on experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment within the relevant department.
· Advanced understanding of department-specific tools, materials, workflow processes, and operational procedures.
· Experience operating department-specific equipment may be required depending on assignment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Work Experience:
· Proven hands-on experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment within the relevant department.
· Advanced understanding of department-specific tools, equipment, materials, inventory processes, and operational workflows.
· Prior lead, trainer, or team coordination experience preferred.
· Experience operating forklifts, pallet jacks, overhead cranes, or other department-specific equipment may be required depending on assignment.
· Strong organizational, communication, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to support operational priorities within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Education: High school diploma or GED required.
Additional technical training, warehouse certifications, or forklift certifications are preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee sometimes works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, and heights. When participating in activities on the shop floor, the noise level in the work environment is typical for a fabrication shop and ear plugs may be used as necessary.
